We have had the great joy and privilege of welcoming some truly inspiring fundraising heroes through Fisherman's Rest Projects
Sam, age 10, came out to Malawi with his family last August, 2016. Having never been to Malawi it must have been an exciting venture – if not a little nerve wracking….
He took Fisherman’s Rest by storm, mastering his water carrying skills in the community, reading with children in schools, helping build Changu Changu Moto’s (fuel efficient clay stoves, built with local, natural materials). Where there was need to do something - Sam got stuck in.
Getting back to school, we were absolutely delighted to hear Sam did a talk at cubs and in front of his school. Then baked gingerbread men and raised an impressive £125.50.
£125.50 worth of gingerbread men has given 5 children school meals for a year, which is a whopping 945 cups of porridge!
* Thank you Sam!
We also had the Griffiths family stay with us. The boys Joel and Tim showed boundless energy. Tim's football team 'Carmarthen Stars under 11's' donated some football kits which was an immediate hit with children in Malawi - football is an international language and Tim certainly communicated through hours of football skills and games.
Whilst with us the boys helped with a plethora of different activities from teaching in libraries, IT lessons and of course lots of football. They showed a keen interest in our Madzi Alipo (water project) app.
*Thank you Joel & Tim
So these are a few of our young fundraising heroes. We are very so blessed to have so many young people catch the Africa bug and fly our project banner!
